Consultation Hours: General Information
Checklist for the Consultation Hour
Consultation Hours are often less efficient than the docent and the students wish they were. This can be prevented by following the Checklist. It optimizes the result and creates an effective arrangement of the Consultation Hour.
I. Consultation Hour with an Research Associate:
1. Term papers/ Examination:
Please read the following documents before the first meeting:
Relevant Examination regulation (you can find them on the websites of the Faculties or Institutes as a download file)
- Tips for Examinations.
2. Proseminars/ Advanced seminars:
Topics can be choosen from the list of topics in the Seminar. Please make sure, you have an overview of potential literature and the practicability of your topic. Early and serious application will be worthwhile.
3. Examination:
Please prepare the following points before the first meeting:
- Preparation of two or at least one suggestion for your topic (the question and the intention of your examination should be concrete at this point)
- Composition of a structure
- Profiling of a bibliography and a list, which literature you already have read
- Collection of the seminars you have visit and the term papers you have written
- Frequently participation of the Exams Colloquium
4. Oral Examination:
Please read/ take note of the following documents before the first meeting:
- Relevant Examination regulation (you can find them on the websites of the Faculties or Institutes as a download file)
- Tips for Examinations.
- Select three topics from the three political fields:
Politische Theorie
Vergleichende Systemlehre
Internationale Politik
Please prepare first considerations.
II. Consultation Hour with Herrn Prof. Wessels
Applications are organised by the secretariat, Phone: 0221/4701431
1. Term papers and oral Examinations
should be first discussed with the responsible Research Associate.
2. Examination
The Consultation Hour of Prof. Wessels should be only inquired after the frequently participation of the Exams Colloquium and a presentation of your topic at the Colloquium.
3. Scientific Expertise:
To get a Scientific Expertise, there are some information needed:
- a written list of all courses of the Jean-Monnet-Chair you have already visit (incl. written term papers, exams etc.)
- CV
- if possible, a copy of filled-in formulars of the Institutions, you would like to apply for
